Board certified acupuncturist with the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA), registered massage therapist with Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC), and certified Chinese Herbologist, Barkley Tan is the third generation of Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor in his family.
Barkley grew up with learning traditional Chinese TuiNa massage and herbs from his father’s clinic and helping with the preparation of herbal medicine formulas. Due to the family heritage, he has always been fascinated by the traditional oriental medicine and the way the human body exists and functions in nature.
Barkley Tan has been working in Bethune Oriental Medicine Center for 17 years and has been teaching in acupuncture program at Grant MacEwan University for 13 years.
During the course of his professional career, he has treated thousands of patients with an extensive range of diseases including, all manners of musculoskeletal pain, back pain, arthritis, infertility, postpartum care, stress related conditions, depression, insomnia, headaches, obesity, stroke, impotence, allergies, TMJ (Jaw pain), anti-aging, chronic fatigue, addiction, etc.
With the practice of the mind/body connection in health and well-being, dedicated and caring, a variety of combination treatment techniques are always implemented such as acupuncture, ear acupressure, electro-stimulation, moxibustion, cupping, Guasha, deep tissue Tuina massage and herbal medicine.
